Suicide Prevention at Blount Island

Suicide Prevention & Response

Veterans Crisis LineEveryone will face a challenge at some point; some may develop into a crisis. Look out for red flags following severe depression or a catastrophic life event, such as feeling like a burden, or experiencing hopelessness or helplessness. The sudden loss of a friend or family member is also a risk factor. Show that you care. Ask questions. Be a good listener. Offer help. Asking about thoughts of suicide doesn't increase suicide risk. If you or someone you know is having suicidal thoughts, call 988 (press 1) or visit VeteransCrisisLine.net. For more information, contact Gunnery Sgt. Todd Lawhon, suicide prevention coordinator, at todd.lawhon@usmc.mil or 904-696-3615.
