Ashore positioning Department
The Marine Corps sustains a global integrated sustainment network that keeps equipment always forward, always ready. Through strategic ashore sites and integrated contracted support, Marines can respond rapidly to emerging threats, sustain forward presence and strengthen alliances. These capabilities underpin Force Design, assure allies, deter adversaries and enable distributed operations in contested environments.
Ashore positioning
Anchored in Norway’s ground equipment caves, Marine Corps Positioning Program-Norway (MCPP-N) provides materiel designed to reinforce NATO allies and support crisis response under U.S. European Command. The program has demonstrated strategic value by reinforcing operations in Iraq and Afghanistan, and today it remains central to reinforcing European deterrence and allied interoperability.
In the Indo-Pacific, the Marine Corps maintains forward-positioned logistics capabilities that support rapid response and sustained operations across the region. Ashore positioning efforts in this theater are enabled through contracted storage and maintenance, providing flexible sustainment options to enhance operational readiness in support of global security objectives.
