JACKSONVILLE, Fla. --
U.S. Marine Corps Col. Luke Watson, commanding officer, Blount Island Command, cut a ribbon Dec. 5, 2024, opening a new readiness and resilience room at Marine Corps Support Facility Blount Island in Florida. The Warrior Athlete Readiness and Resilience Room, or WARR Room, was made possible by funding from Marine Corps Semper Fit and Recreation, which supports Marine health and wellness through prevention-focused programs that build readiness, expand resiliency and develop capability through research-based and evidence-led programming.
The room at the hub of Marine Corps' prepositioning programs will immediately provide Marines with a space to relax and recharge. At the opening, it featured 65- and 85-inch TVs, gaming consoles, leather chairs and couches. Marines can access the room on Blount Island by signing a logbook or reserving the space for readiness and resilience events and other health and wellness activities.
"This room increases the space where we can get together--we can build camaraderie, we can support one another," said Watson, ahead of cutting the ribbon. "When we pull together and support one another, that's when we can build each other up."
