Matt Crabill is the Deputy Commander of Blount Island Command and Marine Corps Support Facility Blount Island. These commands forward-position combat capabilities at sea and at land-based locations to support Marine Forces executing day-to-day campaigning and rapid transition to conflict.
Matt was commissioned into the U.S. Marine Corps in 1990. As a junior officer, he served as a staff officer, operated a military airport facility, and was the logistics officer and executive officer at Marine Barracks Japan. He deployed to Guantanamo Bay supporting refugee operations and was a United Nations Military Observer in the West Sahara.
Progressing from the rank of Major through Lieutenant Colonel, Matt served as a staff officer at the 11th Marine Expeditionary Unit (Special Operations Capable), Headquarters Marine Corps, and III Marine Expeditionary Force. He participated in humanitarian and security cooperation operations throughout the Pacific, Africa and the Middle East, and in combat operations in Iraq. As a Lieutenant Colonel, he commanded a squadron that conducted security cooperation in the Philippines and Cambodia, and deployed to Iraq to provide aviation ground support in austere locations.
Upon promotion to Colonel, Matt was assigned as the chief of the Joint Logistics Operations Center for U.S. Central Command where he coordinated global supply chain activities supporting sustainment and retrograde operations in Iraq and Afghanistan. He subsequently assumed command of Blount Island Command and Marine Corps Support Facility Blount Island.
Upon conclusion of his active-duty service, Matt worked in industry and re-entered Government as a Civil Servant in 2017.
Matt is a graduate of the University of Missouri, Amphibious Warfare School, Marine Corps Command and Staff College, and the Navy War College. He holds a Bachelor of Science and two Master’s Degrees.
