Health Services at Blount Island

Health Services

The Independent Duty Corpsman (IDC) at Blount Island Command provides essential medical services to ensure the health and readiness of all personnel. The IDC is responsible for delivering primary care, emergency medical services, and preventive health support, managing both acute and chronic conditions. Additionally, the IDC conducts routine medical assessments, provides injury treatment, and facilitates referrals to specialists when necessary. The Corpsman also plays a key role in educating personnel on health and safety practices, and coordinates medical evacuations and emergency responses when required. By maintaining a high standard of care, the IDC directly supports the command’s mission, ensuring that all personnel are fit for duty and capable of performing at peak readiness.
