First Sergeant Fidel M. Chavez Senior Enlisted Advisor, Blount Island Command & Marine Corps Support Facility Blount Island

1stSgt Chavez enlisted in the Marine Corps on February 16th 1999 from Winter Haven, Florida and attended recruit training with Gulf Company, 2D Recruit Training Battalion, Marine Corps Recruit Depot, Parris Island, South Carolina.  After completion of Recruit Training he reported to the School of Infantry, Camp Geiger, North Carolina for Marine Combat Training.  Upon Graduation he was assigned to Twenty-nine Palms, California where he completed the Field Radio Operator Course (FROC) and earned the MOS of 2531, Field Radio Operator.

Upon Completion of FROC in September of 1999, Private First Class Chavez reported to Head Quarters Battalion, Communications Company, 2D Marine Division, Camp Lejeune, North Carolina where he served as a field radio operator.  He was then promoted to Corporal in February 2001.

In April 2001 Corporal Chavez was reassigned to 1st Battalion 6th Marines 2D Marine Division, Camp Lejeune, North Carolina.  There he served as a field radio operator.  He was then promoted to Sergeant in December 2001.  In July 2002 Sergeant Chavez deployed under the Unit Deployment Program to Okinawa Japan.  Upon his return he attended Sergeants Course on Camp Geiger in April 2003.

In August 2003 Sergeant Chavez reported to Marine Wing Support Squadron-273, Beaufort, South Carolina. While there he served as the Assistant Radio Chief. He then deployed to Operation Iraqi Freedom from February to September 2004. 

In September 2004 Sergeant Chavez reported to 4th Low Altitude Air Defense (LAAD) Battalion, Detachment Alpha, Marietta, Georgia.  There he served as the Communications Chief with the Inspector Instructor Staff.  In December 2005 Sergeant Chavez helped in the disbandment of 4th LAAD.

In January 2006 Sergeant Chavez reported to Combat Assault Battalion, 3rd Marine Division, Camp Schwab, Okinawa, Japan, there he served as the Radio chief.  In February 2006 he was then promoted to Staff Sergeant.  In October 2006 he served as the Facilities and Guard Chief for Camp Services, Camp Schwab.  He then was attached to Embedded Training Team (ETT) 2-5 in February 2007 where he deployed to Eastern Afghanistan with ETT 2-5 as their Communications Chief and an Afghan Advisor from June 2007 until February 2008.  Upon his return he attended Radio Chief Course from September to December 2008 where he graduated as the honor graduate.  He then went to Career Course at Camp Hansen, Okinawa, Japan in January 2009.
In April 2009 Staff Sergeant Chavez reported to Recruiters School in San Diego California.  From there he was assigned to Recruiting Station Orlando, 6th Marine Corps District in July 2009.  While there he served as a Canvassing Recruiter in Winter Haven, Florida from July 2009 till April 2010.  In December 2009 he was promoted to the rank of Gunnery Sergeant.  From April 2010 till August 2011 he served as a MEPS Liaison and Assistant Operations Chief.  From August 2011 until June 2013 he served as the Station Commander for Recruiting Sub-Station Winter Haven, Florida.  In April 2013 he attended Advance Course at Camp Johnson, Jacksonville, North Carolina.

In July of 2013 Gunnery Sergeant Chavez reported to 3rd Battalion 6th Marines, 2nd Marine Division, Camp Lejeune, North Carolina.  There he served as the Radio Chief and deployed with the 24th Marine Expeditionary Unit from December 2014 till July 2015.  In July 2015 he was promoted to First Sergeant.  First Sergeant Chavez was then assigned as the Company First Sergeant for Lima Company.

In January of 2016 First Sergeant Chavez reported to Blount Island Command as the Senior Enlisted Advisor where he is currently serving.
